To examine the perspectives of decision-makers when assessing good character nursing and midwifery pre-registration students in relation to their continued fitness practise. A qualitative iterative survey design interpretive paradigm. An expert panel practise was established students. modified Delphi approach used collect data via an on-line asynchronous questionnaire through a series three rounds 2016. Qualitative from all were analysed using thematic analysis. final overall analysis interpretation undertaken. The assessment is complex appears be heavily influenced by contextual factors including moral beliefs student's stage on course. Determining seriousness potential for repetition behaviour key components decision-making process ability demonstrate self-awareness reflection remorse, honesty integrity professional duty candour. Educating understand how assessed importance epistemological along with recognition student status Nursing Midwifery Council documentation recommended promote consistency between higher education institutions. Consistent regard may assist maintaining public protection, trust confidence professions future.
